Our Story
Built on something stronger than shingles
High Valley Roofing started with a simple idea: treat people right and do the job right — every time.
Back in 2013, our founder John Mayo got his start in the roofing industry as a project manager. He learned fast that in this business, promises are cheap — but follow-through is rare. That’s why when he started High Valley Roofing, he built it on something stronger than shingles: integrity, accountability, and local trust.

We’re a family-run company, based right here in Colorado Springs. John’s wife, and their two kids — all born and raised in the Springs — are proud to call this community home. We’ve weathered the same storms, felt the same winds, and shoveled the same driveways.
And around here, leadership doesn’t mean sitting in an office. John’s not afraid to throw on his bags and work alongside the crew. He does things right—just like he promised—whether he’s climbing a steep pitch in the middle of a hail job or hauling bundles on a hot summer day.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.
Meet the Owner
I’m John Mayo, owner of High Valley Roofing. I started this company in Colorado Springs October 2018, and I still personally handle some sales, production and estimating for jobs we take on, when you call, you’re talking to me, not a call center or a script.
We’re licensed specifically in El Paso County and and that’s intentional. I’d rather know this county inside and out than spread thin trying to cover more ground.
I don’t believe in pressuring homeowners at their front door, and my team doesn’t either. If you reach out to us, it’s because you decided to and that’s how I want it to stay.
I got my start in roofing on a construction job with my uncle. He knew the owner of the roofing company we were working for, we hit it off, and I was asked if I wanted to start selling roofs and I never looked back.
After a few years with another company, I started to see the state of the industry up close, and it wasn’t good. Large teams of polished out-of-state salesmen would roll into Colorado after a storm, sell jobs, and leave town, often leaving homeowners dealing with “roofing pirates” and no one to call when something went wrong. I’d seen enough of it.
My faith is what pushed me to do better for this community. I knew I couldn’t fix the whole industry on my own, but I could build a company that does right by the people it serves, one roof at a time. That’s why I started High Valley Roofing and it’s still how I run it today. When you call, you’re talking to me, not a call center or a script and every job we take on stays inside El Paso County, the county I know best.

Meet Ryan Krebs
Project Manager
Hi, I’m Ryan, a Project Manager with High Valley Roofing. I guide homeowners through every step of their roofing project, from the first conversation to the final nail. What I enjoy most is the journey itself: answering questions, easing concerns, and making sure each client feels confident and cared for along the way. If you need something, I’m always eager to help.
When I’m not on a roof or at a kitchen table walking a family through their options, you’ll find me outdoors with my dog, Jasper. A trip up to the mountains is my favorite way to recharge and come back ready for the week ahead.
Meet Aaron Johnson
Project Manager
Hi, I’m Aaron, a Project Manager with High Valley Roofing. One of my favorite parts of the job is standing in my clients’ corner during the insurance process. I dig into the details, document everything, and make sure the insurance company understands exactly what they owe and why they owe it. There’s nothing better than seeing a homeowner get the full coverage they paid for.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me helping my wife around our retail store or spending time with our kids. I believe in working hard, loving my family well, and enjoying every bit of life along the way.
